The reported Hoya entries

The supplied excerpt from Mutation Breeding Newsletter 31 lists Compacta, Compacta Regalis, Mauna Loa and Rubra in a table of cultivars and reported mutation treatments. The Hoya entries give 1980(?) and X- or gamma rays, 50 Gy, with rooted cuttings(?). The printed question marks are part of the evidence.

The Compacta Regalis row describes white-edged curved leaves. The excerpt contains the cover and a two-page table spread, not the full issue, its introduction or a primary laboratory record.

Interpretation limits

This is a historical register-style report. It does not establish that irradiation originally created the named cultivars, identify a treated accession or resolve the chronology against the earlier patents. The 2025 Cobia nursery interview gives a different account of irradiation and natural sports. Neither account is treated as a controlled experiment or proof of a genetic mechanism. The table image is retained privately and is not reproduced here.

Evidence scope and limits

Original and separate extraction filed; historical source statements and explicit uncertainties retained.
