Barnell L. Cobia. Milkweed Plant (United States Plant Patent 3,306). 1973-02-20. pp. 1–7 (patent cols.1–8 and correction).
United States Plant Patent 3,306 describes Hoya carnosa compacta (cv) Regalis as a sport of Marginalis at Winter Garden, Florida. The distinction combines the curled Compacta habit, pale leaf borders and persistent red-family colouring of several organs. The description reports leaf blades usually 30–70 mm long and 20–45 mm wide, umbels usually containing 20–45 flowers, and flowers usually 12–18 mm across (printed cols.3–6).
The 3 July 1973 Certificate of Correction supplies five instructions affecting the issued text. Corrected readings control; OCR and later copy annotations are navigation aids rather than new historical evidence.
Scope and limits
The original and extraction are filed. The complete two-sheet photographic plate is displayed on the Regalis profile in its published context, with item-specific reproduction review. The patent describes historical material and reports successive stem-cutting propagation. It does not authenticate modern plants or establish optimum cultivation conditions through a controlled comparison.
Evidence scope and limits
Original and separate extraction filed; historical source statements and explicit uncertainties retained.
