Barnell L. Cobia. Milkweed Plant (United States Plant Patent 3,310). 1973-02-27. pp. 1–5 (patent cols.1–6 and correction).
United States Plant Patent 3,310 describes Hoya carnosa compacta (cv) Marginalis as a sport of Compacta, with green leaf centres surrounded by pale borders on both surfaces. Its stated border-variegation pattern differs from the pale centre and green border of Mauna Loa. The description reports blades usually 30–70 mm long and 20–45 mm wide, umbels usually containing 20–45 flowers, and flowers usually 12–18 mm across (printed cols.3–5).
The 31 July 1973 Certificate of Correction supplies seven instructions, including corrections to descriptive terms and a measurement. The corrected original controls over noisy OCR and later copy annotations.
Scope and limits
The original and extraction are filed. The complete four-figure photographic plate is displayed on the Marginalis profile in its published context, with item-specific reproduction review. Historical nursery observations and reported propagation stability do not authenticate unrelated modern plants or establish a separate care optimum.
Evidence scope and limits
Original and separate extraction filed; historical source statements and explicit uncertainties retained.
