What was studied
From 30 August to 12 September 2015, the authors sampled nine 20 × 20 m plots selected around known Hoya in Bukit Duabelas National Park, Jambi. They report four taxa (H. rintzii, H. revoluta, H. coronaria and provisionally identified H. cf. caudata) on 12 of 71 trees. The measured associations between a particular Hoya and tree species were weak in this sample; the study does not establish a rule for every site or species.
Reading limits
Methods list three Hoya taxa, whereas Results list four. The paper states nine plots yet gives plot-frequency percentages that do not readily reconcile with nine; it also prints 25.64% for crown positions in Table 1 and 25.66% in the narrative. It calls 68.75% visual canopy cover the proportion of light reaching the ground, but canopy cover is not a light measurement. Air temperature (26.90–30.90 °C) and relative humidity (76.60–85.10%) describe the short survey at these plots. The exploratory habitat associations and co-occurring ant nests do not establish cultivation targets or a causal mechanism.
How do we know this?
Hoya Library separates a source from the claims made from it. Citation details identify the publication; linked findings and treatments show how it is being used; archive notes state what has actually been checked. Corrections and stronger evidence can therefore be added without hiding earlier interpretations.
