A Selabintana field study reported Hoya purpureofusca in nine selected occupied plots, compared with nine nearby plots without recorded plants. Six occupied trees were individually listed. The survey describes this study area; it does not define where the species can or cannot grow across its full range.
Geography
Selabintana Resort in Gunung Gede Pangrango National Park, West Java, Indonesia. The authors targeted survey locations above 1000 m in a submontane zone. No plot coordinates or precise plant elevations are supplied, so this Place has no point marker.
Climate
Near selected occupied phorophytes, Hidayat, Rahayu and Ningtyas reported 21.9–23.7 °C air temperature, 20–84% relative humidity and 76.9–81.0% shaded light relative to open readings. Soil around those trees had pH 6.2–6.6. The paper does not establish the time and replication for each reading, plant-level pairing, annual climate or epiphyte root-zone pH. These are study observations, not cultivation targets.

Collection history
The published survey describes field plots and host-tree observations; it does not provide a specimen collection history for this Place.
What we still do not know
Plot coordinates, a Hoya plant count, measurement timing and a comparable independent survey are not supplied. The paper says fieldwork occurred in September 2011 but lists receipt on 20 April 2011; the chronology is unexplained. Table 4 gives climber similarity 0.435 (43.5%), contrary to the conclusion's statement that all strata are at most 25%. Climate summaries describe their stated place, period, and method. They do not measure every plant’s microclimate. Maps are withheld until coordinate precision and sensitivity have been reviewed.
