Citation

Rachel Colette Conroy. 2 April 2024; updated 28 July 2024. pp. Full name; Status; origin and name-establishment account; leaf/flower description.

The Hoya cultivar registrar accepts Compacta Purple Leaf and dates establishment of the name to Hoya Nieuwsbrief no. 4, page 30, in 1986. It credits Ton van der Hoorn with selection and naming, and describes dark purple new growth, lilac flowers and a tight habit.

The 2024 article is a later naming assessment. Its date is distinct from the cultivar’s 1986 establishment and the reported 1982 purchase of its parent plant. The original newsletter has been checked separately.

Scope: Original factual paraphrase and citation. The account does not authenticate every modern plant bearing the name. No source photographs or broader reproduction rights are included.
