Citation

Rachel Colette Conroy. 2025-08-13. pp. Name, Status, Category, Description and Sources.

Conroy traces the name Freckles to Loyce Andrews’s 1977 list, “50 Interesting Hoyas,” in Plants Alive!, page 72. The registrar reports a brief description of round, silver-freckled leaves and pink blooms, but cannot connect the name to one unique cultivar. No classification below genus or selection method was published. The name has subsequently been associated with multiple Hoya carnosa.

The 1977 original has not been acquired for this profile. The naming account is attributed to the registrar; neither modern clone identity nor image permission follows from this citation.
